  • eHarmony has settled a lawsuit that claimed they discriminated against gay and lesbian people who were looking for matches with other gay and lesbian people.

Visitors to Blogville (except for readers who only click on The Corner and OneNewsNow) have known for a couple of years that eHarmony was straights-only. If they’d advertised that, they might have caused some cognitive dissonance among people who are fully invested in the narrative that straight == normal.

The settlement is like an E7 chord with a G natural on top: a “soul” version of the chord that’s a tiny bit subversive to Suzy Creamcheese who’s only ever heard the dominant narrative.

Would it be piling on to recall that the skin shade of each member of the couples in their TV ads is precisely the same?
